Letter from Ark-Aid about London’s homeless and the cold

Today, we launched an urgent State of Emergency Appeal to address the devastating impact of the extreme cold on over 320 people in our community who have no shelter.

We’ve issued an open letter to London City Council alongside other community partners, calling for immediate action to open warming centres and establish temporary emergency shelters to save lives. Read the full letter.

Our teams are witnessing heartbreaking situations daily. Just yesterday, in -20°C weather, we found someone trapped under a collapsed tent, their feet frozen from frostbite. They’re now in the hospital receiving care—but this is just one of many stories of desperation we encounter.

We need your support to ensure no one is left to face this crisis alone.

We cannot wait for a long-term solution while lives are at risk right now. Please, stand with us to help our community’s most vulnerable.
