Acknowledging the territory

Let us acknowledge that our church is located on the traditional lands of Anishinaabe (the Ojibwe or Chippewa Nation), the Haudenosaunee (the Iroquois, and the Oneida Nation), the Lenapéwak (the Delaware People),  the Attawandaron (the Neutral Nation or Algonquin People) and the Wendat (Huron People).  We are grateful to live as uninvited guests upon the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Anishinabek Nation.  We are grateful to be able to live and learn on these lands. To acknowledge this traditional territory is to recognize its longer history, one predating the establishment of the earliest European colonies.  It is also to acknowledge this territory’s significance for the Indigenous Peoples who lived, and continue to live, upon it and whose practices and spiritualities were tied to the land and continue to develop in relationship to the territory and its other inhabitants today. This territory is included in the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Iroquois Confederacy and the Confederacy of the Ojibwe and Allied Nations to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. With a spirit of reconciliation, we commit to learning more about Indigenous communities, and sharing those learnings with our families and community.

We are not alone,
we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh.

We still have a building and staff and are still running a community meal program on Tuesday evenings.  We are thankful for your donation- see main page – click on Canada Helps link.
